Banner Butter Squash Casserole

Blayne Macauley November 24, 2015

My favorite type of recipe is one you know so well you can improvise a little.  I feel like that about squash casserole.  I can't even remember how many times I've made it, but I do know I don't need a recipe because I know all the ingredients and basic quantities. I was making one last weekend and decided to use Banner Butter, an local Atlanta favorite, for some added flavor.  I was hoping it would be good, and I wrote down the ingredients just in case.  It was a major hit with the family, and also makes perfect leftovers, so try it this holiday season.

Your Guide to the Peachtree Road Farmer's Market

Blayne Macauley September 9, 2015

We start off all our favorite Saturday mornings with a trip to the Peachtree Farmers Market, which is located at The Cathedral of St. Philips.  It's my favorite farmers market because it brings together so many local vendors and companies I love in our community. Oliver loves the people watching, and Jimmy and I love the coffee and breakfast.  We found out about Garnish & Gather at the farmers market, and we usually attend the live chef demos.  This week I got wildflowers for the house from McMullan Family Farm, and we all had pimento cheese and bacon biscuits. We picked up some drunken tomatoes from Doux South Pickles and sausage from Pine Street Market to make my favorite jambalaya recipe for lunch during the UGA game.  We usually check in with the Preserving Place booth and see what's new.  You may remember them from this post I did about the PERFECT homemade biscuit.  I also always go by theSouper Jenny booth to see what salads they have.  This week I discovered Eden Easy Beds, a company that makes wooden containers and the most beautiful succulent arrangements.  You can bring them your own container, and they will make an arrangement for you that you can pick up the following week.  I am going to do that for sure!  And finally, I couldn't leave without some Banner Butter, which is truly one of the best things I've ever tasted.  I didn't know butter could be that good!

Spotlight on Emily Golub, Founder of Garnish & Gather

Blayne Macauley February 17, 2015

If you are a regular TPL reader, you know my obsession with Garnish & Gather.  I'm a long time subscriber of the food and recipe delivery service, and I believe it's the best one available in Atlanta.  I found out about Garnish & Gather at the Peachtree Road Farmers Market one Saturday morning right after Oliver was born.  Emily was standing next to a chalk board with the weekly menus, and we struck up a conversation.  Since then we've gotten to know each other a little better, and I've become a huge fan of her work and company!  I asked if I could pick her brain about owning a business, her success, and the Atlanta food scene.
