Stan Dixon Exterior

Love at First Sight: A Stan Dixon Masterpiece.

Blayne Macauley March 6, 2015

It is VERY rare for me to fall in love with a house at first sight.  Are there beautiful homes that I shoot and fall in in love with?  Yes. That's the whole basis for this blog; however, it is very very rare that I drive up to a home and fall head over heels in love before I even walk through the front door.  In fact, I can name them on one hand.  Our new house, this Neel Reid home designed by by Margaux Interiors, a Keith Summerour home I shot a few years ago, and this Stan Dixon masterpiece we are currently discussing.

This is Denise Miller of Beacham & Company's personal home.  As I got out of the car with all my equipment and walked to the front porch, I just kept noticing all the exquisite details.  When she answered the door I blurted out, "I'm in love with this house."  I never could play hard to get ;)

During the shoot I feel deeper and deeper in love.  Every vignette is perfect, from the ceiling height, to the proportions, to the color of the floors.  I'm usually a fan of dark wood, but these floors got me.  They brighten the whole house and infuse it with natural light.  Walking into this house and seeing the floors actually reminded me a bit of this house, which is a Pinterest fave!

The home was designed by Atlanta architect Stan Dixon.  He is known for being a master proportion and scale, and he nailed it with this house.
