Unless you have been living under a rock for the last year, I'm sure you're heard of Twine & Twig ;) These Southern made necklaces are sweeping the country. I found them on Instagram right when the line launched. I remember they were being sold in Charleston, and I was very tempted to get in the car and drive up there!
What I love about the style of the necklaces is that they are simple, organic and instantly recognizable. Each strap is branded with their signature "T," so I always know when I see a Twine & Twig necklace around one of my friend's necks!
The girls I know who wear these necklaces are the most stylish, in the know, and hip friends I have! That's why I'm publicly reminding Jimmy that we have an anniversary coming up and a Twine & Twig necklace is at the top of my list. Year two is leather, right?
I was so excited to see the necklaces at the Trinity Spotlight on Art this year! They always have the best jewelry and art there.
Fun TPL trivia - A few weeks ago, Sara Crosby of Produce Candles was in the 10 Questions Series and recommended Out of Hand in Mt. Pleasant, SC. Turns out they carry Twine & Twig as well. Man, I love a good connection.
Sisters Elizabeth White and Jacquelyn Buckner started Twine & Twig in 2013 to reflect their love for organic beauty and Southern roots. They are both from North Carolina and currently live in Charlotte. I reached out to them and asked if they would provide Charlotte suggestions for any TPL readers who might want to take a weekend road trip there. All you have to do is look at their beautiful products to know these sisters have amazing taste, so let's see what they recommend!
Name: Elizabeth White + Jacquelyn Buckner (sisters)
Company: Twine & Twig
Describe your Typical Day: no two days are alike- days can be filled with anything ranging from photoshoots, interviews, social media updates, staff meetings, design meetings, branding straps, restocking website, filling retail orders, shipping…. its creative chaos at its best!
Your Twine & Twig necklaces are so beautiful and so popular! What inspired you to start the company? We wanted to design something for ourselves- something that was original and unique, but we never sought out to be jewelry designers. We just wanted to create something cool for us to wear. Fast forward to now… over 6,000+ necklaces later, it seems like a lot of women were looking for that cool, all natural statement piece.
What is the secret to your success? We were lucky to come up with an idea that did not exist. Our suede strap has become a recognizable part of our brand. All of our necklaces are hand tied onto a branded suede strap. Its unique and comfortable. The key is to create something new and a design that is recognizable.
How long have you lived in Charlotte, and what do you love about it? We've both been here almost 10 years- charlotte is also growing and changing- while preserving its historic character. We both love food and wine so it is great to discover new restaurants and the proximity to the coast and the mountains.
Where to splurge on clothes
With stylist Erica Hanks. She has incredible taste and is our go to for big events and photoshoots.
Elizabeth and Jacquelyn, thank you so much! These are such great places! Jimmy and I love Charlotte. That was actually the first place we visited as a couple, and we liked it so much we named our dog Charlotte and almost got married there! All of your suggestions make me want to plan a weekend trip really soon!
Once again, please check out Twine & Twig's necklaces! I cannot recommend them enough :)
