Look of the Week: Elise Baumann

Look of the Week: Elise Baumann

Blayne Macauley February 2, 2015

Elise Baumann joined Beacham & Company right around the time I started this blog (5 years ago).  I knew we were going to be friends as soon as we met.  She has the biggest smile and infectious laugh, and I just loved her immediately.  She's been reading this blog since the first post, and I can say without a doubt she's its biggest fan.  In a lot of ways  blogging is a very lonely process - just you and a computer.  You think and agonize over posts, and then once you hit publish you don't hear anything.  Elise always read.  She always went out of her way to come by and encourage me and tell me I was doing a good job.  If it weren't for Elise I would have quit at some point in the last 5 years, but knowing she liked what I was writing was always enough to make me think it was worth doing. I recently started reading The Artist's Way, and there is a section in there where you think of the people who encourage you the most in pursuing your passions, and Elise was the first person I thought about.

When I met Elise she was already married to her husband, Kyle.  They are the happiest, most natural and loving couple.  So much so, that the week or so before I met Jimmy I walked into her office, sat down and said, "I want what you have."

Elise and Kyle work together (along with Elise's mom Janey Lowe) in the Lowe Baumann Group at Beacham.  Elise and Kyle work with buyers and sellers and are so knowledgeable about the market and the process of buying a house.

They have three little boys.  The oldest are two year old twins, and the youngest is 5 weeks younger than Oliver (so 8 months old).  In the biggest stroke of luck ever, Jimmy and I moved about five houses down from Kyle and Elise, and we are having the best time raising all these boys together.

Elise has phenomenal style.  She has a talent for mixing tougher, more masculine accessories with beautifully delicate and feminine outfits.  Her collection of leather boots and jackets would make any woman envious, and she's created a signature style out of them.

1. Describe your typical work day

My typical work day consists of running around to meet clients and vendors at houses as well as plenty of time in the office writing contracts, marketing, scheduling inspections, etc. I love how varied work can be on any given day and it definitely keeps me on my toes.

2. If you could raid one celeb’s closet, whose would it be?

Can it be a blogger? Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific. I love her style because it is simple and polished.

3. Who is your favorite Atlanta based clothing designer?

Annie Griffin is a favorite of mine. I love their colorful tops that are easy to pair with pants for work or jeans and heels for a date night. They also have a fabulous jumpsuit that was in their resort collection that I recently snagged that I can’t wait to wear this summer.

4. With 3 boys, I'm sure you know a lot about children's clothes!  What is your favorite line?

Shopping for little boys can be hard! My favorite line is Emerald August and you can find it at Seed Factory. It’s all made in the USA and based here in Atlanta, which I love. My boys love the T-shirts because they are so soft and tag-less. I just bought my niece one of her signature tunics. They are so cute, I wish they came in my size!

5. Describe your dream vacation?

Paris with my husband. It’s definitely not his dream vacation but it is mine! Neither of us have ever been and I’m hoping we can pull off a kid-free vacation in Europe one day! (Here’s hoping!)

6. What is your favorite beauty product?

Hands down, my Clarisonic. I don’t have great skin to begin with and since I have started using it my skin is much clearer. I also love my Trish McEvoy Luminizer Pen. It helps add a little glow when I need it.

7. What are you top three online shopping sites?

Shopbop.com, Calypso, and Piperlime

8. I know you visit Jackson Hole a lot, please list your three favorite places there.

When we go to visit my in-laws in Jackson Hole we love to have après ski at the Mangy Moose and brunch at Café Genevieve. For dinner there are so many great choices but we always try to go to Osteria!

9. Where do you love to shop in Atlanta?

Poppy’s and W. Port!

What is your favorite cookbook?

Right now I am reading Twelve Recipes by Cal Peternell. It’s about mastering simple recipes and building on them. My new year’s resolution is to cook more and I’ve already learned so much and I’m only halfway through!
