My House in Simply Buckhead (so much work to do!)
The new magazine “Simply Buckhead”decided to feature my personal house in a upcoming issue! Thank you to Crisit at Charm Home and Claire at High Gloss blue for recommending me! (Please venture over to Decor Demon to see Claire’s beautiful apartment featured.)
I am at once thrilled and terrified. I moved into my house in 2007 and have done little to change it. The walls are still white, and the countertops are still bright green. I talk a big game about all the things I want to do to it, but when it comes right down to it I haven’t had a reason to actually go through with it. Sure I have done a few things here and there…

This summer I finally bought that bed from IKEA I had been wanting… yes, I still love it.
I also hung some art and rearranged the furniture a little. I was so excited about the progress that I did a guest post on Charm Home about my house.
We painted some this weekend. I would say we are about 45% finished… I was planning on finishing the house this week, but since Atlanta has been hit with a HUGE snowstorm I haven’t been able to do it. In fact, I have been staying at my mom’s house in case the power went out at mine… so I haven’t even been to my house this week … and I am totally freaking out!
To calm my nerves I thought I would go through these photos and make a list of what I need to do. If you guys have any suggestions please make them! I need all the help I can get! My wonderful friend Laure Green Thome helped me pick paint colors (to come), and by friend Anne Williams picked all my furniture.
So, for the photo above, we are leaving the room white but are getting a rug. We are also painting the fireplace yellow (!!!) and doing a little work on the back window.
Here we are adding more curtains to the window and painting the front door.

We also need to paint the stairway! Yikes! I have no idea how to paint really tall walls, but I guess I’ll be finding out
This is the Family room. It will be painted a light green and Laura and I are redoing the shelving.

And finally my bedroom. This has been painted, but I am trying to decide if I need to hang curtains.
I don’t have a picture of the kitchen or the guest room, but I am getting both of those painted as well. The guest bedroom is finished, but the kitchen is only half finished.
Can you see why I am freaking out a little? There is so much to do!
Hopefully some of this ice will melt and I can get to work.
Keep your fingers crossed. And please make suggestions! I will post more pictures of the progress
Enjoy your snow day!!

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this sneak peek! Congrats on the feature. We just bought a new home in the West End area. We dabble in investing and will likely only be here for a year or so and I likely will not paint the walls. I sometimes like the clean and airy feeling of neutrality with punches of color/texture/pattern from furniture and accessories. I love how you've pulled it all together.
Great job so far and good luck! Yes, I agree about painting a little…hope you are putting color in. Definitely needs a rug as you said in the main room.
Can't wait to see the finished project!
Yay!!! I can't wait until the shoot. Only a few more days. Good luck with your to do list. xo, Cristi
It's so cute!!! Those floors are gorgeous and I love how you used the space. (Looking at the house, it totally reminds me of my friend, Parker's old house. Hers was white with a red door but the interior layout looked exactly the same.)
YAY, so glad it worked out with Simply Buckhead! You are perfect for them and your house already looks great.
I actually like the white! Enjoy the shoot Blayne!
Claire
I'm with Claire. Love the white. So jealous. Would love to be able to have a beautiful white home. Alas, with two black dogs, it's never going to happen. Can't wait to see the changes, but know, that you're home is absolutely precious the way it is.
I'm exhausted from all you are doing. I do like it as is though right down to the window box.
OMG – I need you and Cristi to come decorate my house. I am so jealous of your place. It's beautiful!!!
Sweet digs! Looking forward to the "after" pics
Blayne, I am very excited, and I am sorry you are frustrated being stranded and wanting to get the things you mentioned completed. I wish to say that if push comes to shove your place already photographs well, it is a great place, if you can't do anything else, don't stress! Pick up some flowers and – wella! I wish I was not stranded, I'd come help! xoxoxox
Your place is already great. The rug will tie things together, and I'll be interested to see how the mantle and door complement each other. Good luck – I can't wait for the final pictures!

There is so much to be expected from that house.
your house is soooo cute! good luck with the photoshoot. it actually looks ready as is i think. but I know how you feel about wanting to redo. the rug is a good idea I think. but even without, your house still looks great!!!
Blayne, I think your house looks great as is but, I know how it is when you feel like you need to do little things here and there. Good luck with your list and I can't wait to see the pictures!
Lord…a to do list like that will wear you out!!! Good luck getting it done…looks like everyone is rooting for you
How do you like track lighting in your bedroom? I've heard mixed opinions about track lighting.
